We believe that in difficult times, sometimes all you need is a helping hand. To fight. To heal. To survive. To overcome. To support. That’s why we’re proud to offer our hand.
The Hope Lives Foundation is a 503(c) non-profit organization that is made up of a collective group of teenagers and young adults that have been through a life changing experience. Many of these young adults were in high school or college when they all experienced the same life-altering phrase, “you have cancer.”
One in two men. One in three women. The risks of developing cancer in your lifetime are increasing. And while research and advanced treatment are the focus of much of the nation’s cancer fighting efforts, we believe the early development of healthy living habits can help prevent cancer altogether. That’s why we support programs that promote healthy lifestyles like the Boys and Girls Club of Greater La Crosse’s Adopt-a-Child program.
However, some kids will inevitably be affected. Hearing the words, “you have cancer” is a life changing experience. We believe it’s important to make this experience one of hope. Together with our cancer-fighting partners and Gundersen and Mayo, we provide a one-on-one mentoring program called A Bump in the Road. But during and after the battle, its important to maintain a healthy mind, body and spirit. So we teamed up with the Y to offer a LIVESTRONG at the Y program for young adults, called A New Direction. Finally, we recognize that a cancer diagnosis brings about financial challenges, so we offer scholarships for high school and college cancer survivors to help get them back on their feet.
It’s all centered around our uncompromising belief that kids shouldn’t have to deal with cancer; but when they do, we will be there to provide strength from our community.
