Hope Lives Foundation

Scholarship Information

We believe that in difficult times, sometimes all you need is a helping hand. To fight. To heal. To survive. To overcome. To support. That’s why we’re proud to offer our hand. The Hope Lives Foundation is a 503(c) non-profit organization made of a collective group of teenagers and young adults that have been through a life changing experience, cancer. Many of these young adults were in high school or college when they all heard the same life-altering phrase, “you have cancer,” or “your parent/sibling has cancer.” Hearing those words means something so similar and yet so different to each person. Everything you once thought important is suddenly shuddered from focus. Instead, you’re thinking about that cancer, treatment and the ways in which your life may change.

Like anyone labeled “high-schooler” or “collegiate” knows a hefty price tag follows quickly. Keeping that in mind, we are pleased to announce the 2014 Hope Lives Foundation Scholarship. This scholarship is for an individual that perseveres through a “bump in their road”, and continues to achieve all that they are able when they or a family member has had a cancer diagnosis.

Here is how this scholarship works; a high school or college student can not apply for it on his or her own behalf. This is a scholarship in which a peer, such as a fellow classmate or friend, NOMINATES an individual to receive this scholarship. They simply write an essay to the Hope Lives Foundation nominating a fellow peer for overcoming their “bump in the road”, while they continue to be a shining example for others!

The nominated student must be enrolled in a High School or College in the Coulee Region. This scholarship represents all of what the Hope Lives Foundation stands for: courage, surviving, overcoming and supporting. A small, but considerate, amount of effort from a friend could turn into a $1,000 scholarship on behalf of the Hope Lives Foundation!

Please send nominations to the address below. The deadline for essay nominations are April 15, 2014.
